A.K. Kenyatta


Mr. Kenyatta is a certified personal fitness instructor, a nutritional consultant and youth counselor. He has lived in Newark, New Jersey and the surrounding area for over twenty five (25) years. Since residing in Newark, Mr. Kenyatta has worked with various youth organizations including the Newark YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club, IYO (International Youth Organization) and the LST Rites of Passage Program.  In the year 2000, Mr. Kenyatta co-founded the S.T.E.P. Rites Of Passage & Manhood Development Organization and since that time has worked tirelessly assisting in the total development of Newark area  











Ibrahim Hughes


Mr. Hughes was born and raised in Newark and is an Entrepreneur, Investor and community organizer.  As the former Chief Aquisitions Manager of We Buy NJ Real Estate LLC and currently the Director of Acquisitions for STEP Buys Houses LLC, Mr. Hughes has served as a key strategist in the drafting of the many special projects established to promote the educational and financial goals of the organization.With over 15 years of experience in buying, renovating and managing both residential and commercial real estate, Mr. Hughes represents a true asset to the organization and remains committed to assisting our efforts in establishing a permanent home which can serve our long-term community service and developmental needs.









Zaahir Muhammad


Mr. Muhammad has been active in the community for over 25 years and has experience working with organizations, both locally and nationally.  He is dedicated to the development of our neighborhoods, youth and families with an emphasis on education, commerce and culture. Mr. Muhammad is a professional photographer with work published in numerous newspapers including the Village Voice, the Big Red News as well as many other books, periodicals and social media. He is also a professional trainer and consultant in the field of consumer electronics and emerging technologies. These talents and attributes  







Christopher Duffy


Mr. Duffy has been a part of the S.T.E.P. organization since 2006. Since that time, he has represented a key component in S.T.E.P.'s programming, assisting in youth mentoring, counseling, fitness development and self-defense. Mr. Duffy has over 20 Years of Boxing instruction and holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate.


Mr. Duffy graduated with an Associate degree Physical Education from Essex County College. He is a licensed New Jersey Boiler Operator and works presently as a Private Security Investigator with the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey.





Rob Tucker


Mr. Tucker is co-owner of Federated Homes Realty Inc. in Orange, NJ and has been involved in the real estate industry since 1987.  He attended Monmouth College where he obtained an AAS degree in Business Administration. He has also worked with Youth Consultation Services in Behavior modification of Adolescence at the Kintock-Midvalley Youth Center in Van Nuys, Los Angeles as well as assisted in the transitioning process to work release for those coming out of Northern State Prison here in Newark.  He currently serves as Director of Sales for STEP Buys Houses LLC.

Due to his knowledge and expertise in the field of health and wellness as well as his concern for the community, he has helped to develop and organize numerous curriculums and workshops geared towards guiding both youth and their families towards healthier, holistic lifestyles. Mr. Kenyatta sits as the Executive Director of the S.T.E.P. organization and also acts as a consultant for other community groups in the area specializing in organizational and youth development.



Married for 7 years and helping to raise his 5 year old nephew, Mr. Hughes is now presently functioning as the Assistant Director of S.T.E.P. and has been with the organization for approximately 12 years.

Mr. Tucker’s enormous experience and his dedication to our community has been a

key factor in his motivation to work with urban youth here at the S.T.E.P. organization.

His many talents and skills assist with all areas of the organization's functioning and  

continued growth. Mr. Tucker is also a Husband and Father and serves as a strong  

and positive role model for the organization and our youth.
